On track for a great season

On March 21, the Lemont Indians Boys Track & Field team will kick off their 2015 season with an indoor meet in the LHS field house.

The Indians are looking to improve on last year’s second place finish at the South Suburban Blue Conference meet by sending as many athletes down state as possible.

The Indians, coached by Old Quarry Middle School physical education teacher Dennis Kennedy, have a good mix of experienced veterans and promising newcomers.

The team knows that achieving their goal of winning conference won’t be easy, but they believe it is attainable if the effort and work is put in.

According to LHS junior thrower, John Polk, “We have some tough competition this year but our goal is to win conference.”

The Lemont track team has had success in the postseason before. Most notably with Lemont alum Nick Bromberek who competed at the state finals in 2002 as an individual, but did so well that he took second place in the team awards.

Track is a team sport filled with individual goals, however, this team knows in order to be successful, they need everyone to buy into the program. It is the track ‘team’ after all.
